On May 20, the tribe played hooky in honor of Aloha Sunday co-founder Kahana Kalama's birthday. We spent the day hopping around to some of his favorite spots in San Diego and documented our shenanigans on Instagram. We had a blast doing so and decided that this little adventure deserved a permanent home on the blog.
Stop #1 is the newly opened Holsem Coffee. The beautiful interior is spacious, the staff is welcoming, the coffee (and pastries) are delicious and the owners are amazing people... But our favorite thing about Holsem Coffee is that it's located a block away from the North Park Flagship.
Stop #2 Ocean Beach is one of the closest beaches to North Park, and our go to when we're looking to take a quick dip and we don't have too much time to surf. It gets good every so often... Just not today.
Stop #3 Located in shelter Island this is our go to spot for fresh seafood, a rad environment and good big beers. Order the fish and chips and a Ballast Point Sculpin and you can't go wrong.
Stop #4 Pit stop on our walk from Shelter Island to Little Italy to watch a bunch of caged dolphins learn how to diffuse bombs.
Stop #5 - Bottlecraft opened right around the same time we opened our first store in North Park. It's been rad watching their progression and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to their new space in Little Italy.
Stop #6 recharging with James Coffee Co. Again another beautiful mixed-use space combining quality caffeinated drank with well curated retail.
Honorable mention ~ Ajaxe Shoppe .
Stop #7 Ending this broadcast at Kahana's favorite day spot in all of sd ~ Ironside in Little Italy. The best cocktails, oysters and company anyone could ever hope for on a Wednesday... or ever.
