In Stock: The Hawkins Short Sleeved Safari Shirt

The Safari Jacket, also coined as the bush jacket is believed to have drawn its early design influence from British drill uniforms, intended to be worn in warm weather. Engineered with functionality in mind, the most common traits of the safari jacket are it’s numerous pockets, epaulettes and self-belt. By the 1950s the safari jacket had become a mainstream staple made popular by the likes of Ernest Hemingway. Photographers and journalists particularly appreciated the Safari Jacket due to their many pockets allowing them to carry a wide array of photographic equipment. Whether or not you side with the fashion sense of Roger Moore’s James Bond or the late Steve Irwin, the Safari Jacket is sure to conjure up sentiments of exploration and adventure.

In keeping consistent with the current design story we wanted to fashion a bush jacket that fit our tropical safari theme. We updated the silhouette with short sleeves, a slimmed camp collar, four minimal front pockets and a back inverted pleat with a belt for a comfortable yet slimming appearance. The allover chopstick print and coconut buttons add an unexpected twist to an item typically known for it’s solid fabric. The Hawkins Short Sleeve Safari Shirt is proudly made in the USA.
